I found myself home alone for a few days last week; a rare occurrence due to my husband's business trip and son's sleep-away-camp, and after indulging in 2 days of extra sleep I was feeling sort of guilty.

I told myself that sleep was good for me- I must need it, and it was so hot outside the heat was wearing me out.

Then the real goods came to me... this was a bonus for weight loss and I must have really contributed to my fat burning capabilities and craving control in those 2 days of endless zzz's.

On my second day alone I realized that I wasn't eating "normal" meals; I was basically picking my head up from my laptop for healthy snacks.

When I ran out of "cashew cookie" Lara Bars I was desolate. I had no desire to drive 40 minutes to Whole Foods in rush hour traffic.

What to do?

I whipped up the EASIEST recipe ever, and there you have it.

As I head into August with a strong desire to lie on the beach and take a long snooze, I'm reminded how important sleep is for a multitude of reasons.

One of them is to allow your body to produce the proper hormones to keep your weight where you want it.

On the flip side is how NOT getting enough sleep can create spikes of hormones that will put weight on you, encourage cravings, and produce out of control eating.
